more bears

Woke up sort of early this morning and headed up to the glacier to see if we could see some salmon, icebergs, or bears.  Two out of three aint bad!  We saw ice and bears.  No salmon.  Sounds like the sockeye return, which should still have about 2 weeks left this season, is pretty low in the Mendenhall Glacier area.  There was a sign that said returns so far were about 500-600 fish, last year for the whole season (ending Sept 15) saw about 1900.

It was foggy with light rain, so the glacier was pretty hard to see.
The glacier makes it's own weather - it wasn't raining at home, but up my the glacier it was thick fog and light drizzle, and much colder.
