First travel in AK

Today I booked airline tickets to go to a conference for school in October - in Kodiak, AK!  I'm excited to see another Alaska town and to take some pictures.  Steve's been there already (it was the departure city for his arctic cruise), so he'll have to give me the low-down on where to go and what to see.  I tentatively signed up for a tour of a fish processing plant and the Coast Guard hanger...but I'm not sure I'll get to go on both since they're the same day.
