Perseverance Trail

We hiked the Perseverance Trail today - about 7.5 miles round trip since we had to park quite a distance from the trailhead due to some bridge work.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day - sunny, warm, no bugs.  It was definitely the best day we've had in Juneau yet.

There's a couple of nice waterfalls in the valley - this is Ebner falls, not too far from the trailhead.  At the far end of the trail is another, seen below.

The trail is relatively flat - only about 700 feet elevation gain, most of which happens in the first half mile or so.  It's popular with hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers.  The trailhead is near the upper end of downtown Juneau.
This trail was originally built by gold miners!  Some history here.  There are some mining camp ruins at the end of the trail, and you can still see piles of mine tailings.
